HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SECOND QUARTERLY STAFF MEETING AT RRIN

The Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) held its second quarterly interactive meeting between the Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. L.N. Dongo, and members of staff on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the RRIN Conference Hall, Iyanomo, Benin City.

The meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Dr. Igbinosa, who welcomed all participants and prayed for a fruitful session.

Key Discussion Points

The Director/CEO engaged staff on key issues aimed at improving institutional performance and workplace harmony. The following topics were extensively deliberated upon:

    • Work Ethics
      Staff were reminded of the importance of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to the Institute’s mandate. Emphasis was placed on upholding high standards of conduct and productivity in all departments.

    • Harmonization of Rents in Staff Quarters
      Dr. Dongo clarified that while rent across staff quarters remains relatively low, it would remain unchanged. However, all residents are expected to maintain their allocated residences in line with the terms stated in their allocation letters. The Welfare Committee was tasked with monitoring compliance and reporting defaulters.

    • Staff Bus Concerns
      Acknowledging the transportation challenges faced by staff commuting from Benin City, the CEO noted that the current staff bus is out of service due to brake and suspension issues. In-house staff unions were encouraged to propose innovative solutions to address the transportation gap while efforts are being made to rehabilitate the vehicle.

    • Staff Identification & Security
      Given the evolving security landscape, all staff were reminded to wear their ID cards while on duty to ensure proper identification and to support safety measures within the premises.
